I used an insane number of splinters and only managed to get 1 when I wanted 2 :( At least I got a ton of other instants and finished the grand prize :D

Let me get this straight. You are sad because you only got one copy of the Daily Prize, when you wanted two. I am sad because I have tried for FIVE different Daily Prizes, and even running my supply of moon splinters down to zero and winning enough moon splinters for 3 extra chances to spin the roulette wheel (I mean, open another cornucopia), I have not won a single Daily Prize yet during this event, let alone two of the same one. Same goes for two other players in my fellowship, one with a city at a level below mine, and one at a level much higher than mine. Be glad you got one.

Down to zero from what? Your post earlier said
" I tried 6 times to get one prize, and ran my supply of moon shards down to zero, with only 2 coin rains and 1 time booster to show for it. The other three cornucopias were very gratifying prizes of enough additional moon shards to try another three times. "
That adds up to a total spending between 150 and 420 splinters.
That is like flipping a coin twice and not getting heads. Lame, but not totally unexpected.

Players like @Deborah M have finished the main questline and are working with somewhere around 3,500 splinters which is between 25 and 70 tries depending on which size corns they open. If I'm not mistaken, she also doesn't mind spending a little cash on events like these in which case she may have had even more splinters to work with.
So for her to flip 20 coins and only get heads once is just as lame as your situation, if not worse.

You and the 2 players in your FS whom you mentioned should compare apples to apples or else you will be disappointed with your results.

To put things in perspective: If you complete every single quest and collect moonsplinters from around your city quite often, then you should win between 7 and 12 buildings. getting 3 or 18 is also possible, but less likely.

@Pheryll had a good explanation somewhere. Basically for every 1250 moonsplinters that you start with you can roll that many dice, and you'll get about that many buildings but zero buildings is also possible as is getting 1,000 buildings.

Well if that's true, the coins flip in the wrong direction in Khelonaar every single time. I still have yet to get a daily prize there and I just won the daily in Arendyll, Winyandor (for the 2nd time) and Felyndral, but in the 2 worlds where wins are lacking the most, no daily...AGAIN.
I know how you feel. You wouldn't happen to be a human, would you? My elven cities are doing great. Not so much luck in my human city. Even the human buildings, I've heard, are larger than the buildings for the elves.

Yes that is correct. I was unhappy to only get one after spending a whole lot of splinters but I did get another one before that prize went away. Most events now have special prizes that are not just the set buildings or culture buildings that I want at least 2 of. Like @SoggyShorts explained, since I do spend $$ on events, so far I always get the grand prizes and sets plus whatever else I decide I want within reason. This time half way through this event I have spent what I intended to spend and am already almost out of splinters. I am getting to the point of being so frustrated on this event that I'm close to saying @%&# it  I'm not willing to spend twice as much so....

@Tauriel Dragonwood Interesting since my city is Human also

Thank you for the lesson, SS. It's always refreshing to hear why I am in the wrong or know nothing about anything. I do know whether I enjoy this game or this event. I have to say, my lack of daily prizes (for whatever reason) has greatly reduced my enthusiasm for the event.

First, I think it's great that she has already finished the questline and has lots of splinters to spend. However, I'm in the middle of Woodelves, not at the start or end of a chapter. I don't even have enough room in my city for all the guest settlement buildings or their upgrades that I need, let alone space to make more than a handful of slum maufactories. Second, I have been working a real world job that took nearly all my waking hours for the past week, instead of strategizing how to win imaginary prizes. Third, in the last few events I have finished the questline early and run out of splinters or their equivalent long before the event ended, so I am in no hurry to finish early this time.

And that brings us to the crux of the matter. I have not quizzed my fellows on their spending history, but I have kept a tally of mine. I have completed 36 of the sequential quests and all of the daily quests so far, and picked up moon splinters at least once a day, in spite of work. I agree that it would be lame to complain about not winning anything if I had spent less than 500 splinters in 2 or 3 attempts. I have spent 1,180 moon splinters in 13 attempts with NOT ONE daily prize to show for it. I opened 5 large cornucopias, 2 medium ones, and 6 small ones. Since 3 of those rolls of the dice brought me more moon splinters to waste, my take from the event has been 3 coin rains, 2 supply windfalls, 15 KPs, and one time booster. In previous events I have done much better, even adjusting for the fact that I am going more slowly on the sequential quests this time. That is not the kind of odds I would ever throw away real world money on.

I don't have a lot of discretionary cash to spend, and I don't blow it gambling in casinos or horse races or betting pools. I only buy a $4 lottery ticket once or twice a year. I hate the gambling element of the events. I hate it that one player might get zero, another player might get 1, and a third player might get 2 or even 9 of something. If Inno would sell the Daily Prizes at set prices, I would probably spend some dollars to buy enough splinters for a prize or two. I'm sure not throwing money down a black hole, with poor to zero odds on a return, though. I know one former player who quit this game in October last year, after we chatted a long time about gambling addictions. The rest of you, if it's a cheap trip to Vegas for you, have at it.

I cannot find my earlier posting, which was a question asking if anyone else is also experiencing NO daily prizes this time. However, I suspect my fellows and I are not the only ones. I have seen a few comments about a low rate of return on this event, and one speculation asking whether only human cities are affected. The answer to that query is 'No." In my fellowship, it is 2 elven cities and 1 human city with no daily prizes so far. My comment this time was borne out of my frustration that some players are walking away with multiples, or expecting to, while at least a few of us are getting NOTHING. As you say, SS, it's a gamble. And that means someone has to lose.

I finished over the weekend.
I didn't bother reading this thread because, you know, you people bore me.
So I'll probably repeat thing already said by lesser mortals.
My takeaways.
I actually enjoyed the annoying bonus system in the previous event more. The way the chests changed their contents each time were a pita but more interesting.
This event had way too many high upgrades, scouts, and KP buys for my taste.
And I feel like there should be a third, these always come in threes, but I don't have any more so why waste my time? Instead I'll just go away without another word. I hope everyone is OK with that.
Actually, I don't really care if anyone else is OK. I thought we established that already. So if I want to end my comment I will do so at whatever time suits me whether you like it o

I didn't say or even imply anything of the sort.
You compared your results to @Deborah M, and I explained why that wasn't fair.

I'm having a hard time getting this to add up. What size corns are you doing?

@Nioka You are absolutely correct. I have to honestly say that I know for a fact that in this event I have tried at least 13 times and more for a couple of the prizes. I completely agree that is ridiculous! You are also correct that where we are in the game is vastly different. I am at the end of Amuni and I have all of the expansions so a very large city. Check it out since I noticed you are on E world :) I did also have a whole lot of trouble fitting anything in for the event and it took a lot of juggling building level 1 buildings, doing the quest, selling them and building for the next quest. I also have all the time I want to plan and move to next thing immediately because I am retired. I too hate the gambling aspect. I have never had any desire to go to Vegas and when on vacations I only take a set amount of $ to any casino and I'm done. I guess same thing on this event. I am unhappy that I spent what I intended to spend and this event has not gone well for me. Oh well! I'm just glad I will have enough culture & population from these buildings so I won't have to spend on premium culture buildings :D

BTW, I love your pic but when I see it  Yup. I shew my cats off of my laptop at least a few times a day :p

I wish there were a way to trade with other players for what you want. I did not want buildings as I am still scouting, I wanted time instants instead. Yea!! I got some time instants today. I would gladly give the portions of the "set buildings" to anyone who wanted them, if there were a way. I am no where near the end of the event (to be honest I think I'm in the middle) and really have no desire to continue with it. So.....Happy gaming everyone!!!;)

Once again, after the daily quest is shown and I make the decision to go ahead and use 140 splinters, after that a 2x day. Is the announcement of a bonus day like 2x sun flares intentionally done so that when you see what the daily exclusive is you might not wait to see if maybe just today without knowing it a 2x sun flares might show up? I would think they would at least be at the same time.Really unfair.

Prizes and double days are known 7 days in advance. Check here: https://elvengems.com/harvest-festival/daily-prizes/

According to GemsofElvenar, the 7th, 13th & 18th are the next Double Sun Flare Days.
The one for the 7th did not appear in my city until today at 5 PM PST.
Double days are 2 hours behind the release of a new daily prize.
THIS IS A GOOD THING
It means that not only is there a double day on the 3rd, 7th, 13th and 18th, but also for 2 hours on the 4th, 8th, 14th, and 19th
DOUBLE THE DOUBLE DAYS
